Brian J. Hingston

Brian J. Hingston focuses his practice on complex civil litigation in State and Federal Court, where he represents both commercial and not-for-profit clients. Brian is experienced in representing religious organizations both in Illinois and throughout the country. Brian has successfully litigated complex cases on behalf of religious organizations around the country. Brian’s litigation practice is focused on representing schools and religious institutes in claims involving employee malfeasance.

Mr. Hingston also understands the unique legal needs of religious organizations, and has advised religious organizations on a variety of matters, including the creation and implementation of safe environment policies, as well as internal investigations, crisis management, and risk management.

Given the unique nature of his practice, Brian is adept at thinking creatively and advancing his client’s legal interests in difficult or factually challenging cases. Brian is experienced in investigating and defending decades-old claims. Further, Brian is well versed in making arguments based upon the expiration of the statutes of limitations for older claims throughout the country. Brian is skilled in representing his clients at all stages of the litigation process, from initial investigations, to taking and defending depositions, and bringing matters to resolution through mediation or other alternative dispute resolution.

Investigating and obtaining insurance coverage for his clients is a crucial aspect of Brian’s practice. Mr. Hingston is skilled in vigorously advocating for insurance coverage on behalf of his clients, and has been successful in obtaining coverage for decades-old claims on behalf of religious organizations throughout the country.

Mr. Hingston graduated from the Wake Forest University School of Law in 2015 and obtained his undergraduate degree from Florida State University. During his time in law school, Brian wrote for and was elected as the editor for the online publication of the Wake Forest Journal of Law and Policy. Brian was also a judicial extern for the Honorable John J. O’Sullivan in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Hingston gained experience in civil litigation while working at a law firm in Chicago handling personal injury cases. He has successfully represented clients in courts throughout Illinois and has prevailed in the Illinois First District Appellate Court and the Illinois Supreme Court.
