Mark Kimzey focuses his practice on the representation of public and private sector clients in a range of civil litigation matters, including complex tort defense, professional liability, civil rights, employment law, and commercial disputes. He has successfully litigated high-stakes cases on behalf of clients in both state and federal courts, as well as in administrative agencies, throughout the state and across the country. Mark’s litigation practice also includes internal investigations, crisis management, and regulatory compliance matters.

Based on his background in public service, Mark understands the unique legal needs of local governments. He frequently advises public officials and employees on legal matters affecting their organizations, including open records and meetings laws, labor and employment issues, ethics and conflicts of interest, land use and zoning, and operational matters such as finance, procurement, and contracting. He also assists corporate and not-for-profit clients, from start-ups to existing entities, in the implementation and operation of their business ventures. Mark regularly attends board, commission, and committee meetings and advises clients on parliamentary and procedural matters.

Mark holds both a law degree and an M.P.A., which he earned through a joint degree program at IIT’s Chicago-Kent College of Law. While at Chicago-Kent, he was awarded the Dean’s Full Tuition Merit Scholarship. Mark obtained a B.S. in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration from Western Illinois University, where he graduated summa cum laude. Prior to law school, he worked as an auxiliary police officer for a village in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. Mark is a regular speaker and author on topics related to his practice.
