Na yon Oh
Attorney
About
Na yon Oh is an attorney dedicating her practice to the defense of complex civil litigation matters, including institutional negligence, tort defense, and related disputes for the firm's private sector, nonprofit, and religious clients. A dynamic litigator both in and out of the courtroom, Na yon brings practical litigation experience and a strategic, risk-aware approach to client counseling.
Prior to joining the firm, Na yon served as a prosecutor in Cook County. In this role, she managed a diverse, high-volume docket and built a strong foundation in courtroom advocacy, civil discovery, and trial practice. In addition to her daily courtroom experience, Na yon also handled appellate matters for the office. Her background in researching and drafting briefs for the appellate court gives her a distinct advantage when evaluating defense matters from their inception, allowing her to apply a long-term view toward successful dispositive motion practice and record preservation.
Na yon also brings a unique, cross-jurisdictional perspective to her practice. Having earned her LL.B. in South Korea before receiving her J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law, she is highly adept at navigating overlapping legal and regulatory frameworks. She previously interned at a global law firm, assisting with cross-border M&A, international arbitration, and antitrust matters. This dual-system background provides a distinct advantage when analyzing complex issues involving Canon Law alongside Common Law.
Furthermore, as a lifelong Catholic educated in the Catholic school system, Na yon possesses a native understanding of the governance, mission, and distinct cultural sensitivities of the firm’s parish, school, and religious-institute clients, allowing her to counsel them with both legal precision and institutional awareness.
Na yon is admitted to practice in Illinois. She is bilingual in English and Korean, and fluent in Japanese. She is deeply committed to protecting her clients’ legal, operational, and reputational interests. During law school, she served as the Articles Editor for Transnational Law & Contemporary Problems, the University of Iowa's international law review, and published scholarship on transnational online arbitration.
