Pope Saint Pius X Feast Day

On August 21, the Church celebrates the Feast of Pope Saint Pius X, a leader remembered for his humility, strength of character, and deep concern for the people he served.

His papacy was marked by a desire to bring the Church closer to everyday people and by particular compassion for those who were poor, suffering, or in need. Pope Francis once described him simply and beautifully as “a gentle yet strong Pope, a humble and clear Pope.”

Pope Saint Pius X was also known to enjoy cigars, a personal detail that inspired Airdo Werwas’ annual Holy Smokes tradition, held in his honor on his feast day. It is a lighthearted nod to the man behind the papacy and a distinctive way for our firm to recognize a saint whose life was ultimately defined by faith, humility, and service.

As we honor Pope Saint Pius X, may his example remind us of the lasting impact of leadership grounded in humility, compassion, and genuine service to others.
