Michael Airdo presented on Legal Concerns for Emergency Services Units at the Hanover Township Emergency Services Training Conference in Bartlett, Illinois, on Saturday, October 28, 2023. Michael provided an overview of the Illinois Emergency Management Agency Act with a focus on key legal considerations for Emergency Services Units, such as statutory immunity and potential liability for gross negligence, willful and wanton conduct, intentional torts, and discrimination and harassment. Legal concerns related to disclosure obligations under the Freedom of Information Act and Illinois Supreme Court Rules were also discussed.
