Today, we wish the Sisters of Mercy a blessed Mercy Day!
On September 24, 1827, Catherine McAuley opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, welcoming women and girls in need of shelter and education. That act of compassion began a legacy that continues to reach communities around the world.
Mercy Day is an opportunity to celebrate the Sisters of Mercy and the countless ways they live out their mission: caring for those in need, standing alongside the vulnerable, and bringing hope through service. Their dedication is a reminder that even one act of mercy can have a lasting impact.
