Illinois Township Association of General Assistance Caseworkers Conference

Mark Kimzey and James Jansen presented at the Illinois Township Association of General Assistance Caseworkers Conference on April 20, 2023, in East Peoria, Illinois, for more than 100 attendees. 


In the first presentation titled “Understanding Immigration for General Assistance Caseworkers,” James gave an overview of the immigration process, specifically for asylum seekers. He also provided guidance on verifying an applicant’s immigration status to confirm eligibility for General Assistance.

Mark then presented on “Confidentiality Best Practices,” where he examined what confidentiality means for General Assistance case workers. He also provided an outline of legal missteps to avoid in disclosures, implementing and utilizing Township policies and procedures, and General Assistance recordkeeping.
