Airdo Werwas has landed in Los Angeles!
Founding Members Michael A. Airdo and Mollie E. Werwas, Senior Counsel Elizabeth Yanan, and Chief of Staff Clynnie Keller have arrived in LA for two days of presentations with the Office of the Vicar for Religious of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
The conference, “Supporting the Mission: A Legal Conference for Religious in Los Angeles,” will bring together religious institutes and their leaders for two days of practical discussion centered on the unique legal, operational, and pastoral considerations facing religious communities today.
Day One will focus on Building Strong Foundations, with discussions surrounding governance and leadership, responsible stewardship, protecting property and institutional assets, managing risk, developing policies that support the mission, and preparing for and responding to allegations, misconduct, and other critical incidents.
Day Two will focus on Supporting the Mission and the Members, exploring the relationships religious institutes have with employees and volunteers, supporting members and communities through periods of change, tax-exempt stewardship, and emerging legal and practical issues that may shape religious institutes in the years ahead.
Across eight sessions, Michael, Mollie, and Elizabeth will share practical guidance designed to help religious institutes protect what has been entrusted to them while continuing to care for their members, strengthen their communities, and advance their missions.
We are grateful for the opportunity to spend these next two days with the religious communities of Los Angeles and look forward to the conversations ahead!
