Elvira Kovachevich is an associate who concentrates her practice on transactional matters for religious and other not-for-profit clients, as well as issues involving mental health boards and other local governmental entities. She also works with the firm’s insurance coverage team. Elvira is part of the growing team at the firm that focuses its efforts on the world of Artificial Intelligence and its place in legal practice, the regulation of AI systems, and the ongoing legal and ethical debates surrounding AI's impact.
Ms. Kovachevich holds a B.A. in Political Theory from Michigan State University and a J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law, where she graduated in 2023 with certifications in Legal Innovation & Technology and Business Law. She was named to the Dean’s List every semester. Most recently, Elvira completed a certificate program in Artificial Intelligence through Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sloan School of Management, further expanding her expertise at the intersection of law, business, and emerging technologies.
Before joining the firm, Elvira served as Legislative and Regulatory Counsel in Government and Industry Relations at Allstate Insurance Company. In that role, she worked with state regulators, legislators, and trade associations on matters involving insurance, liability, and tort reform, and where she acted as a subject-matter expert on artificial intelligence. During law school, she clerked with firms concentrating on litigation, cryptocurrency and tax, and personal injury matters.
