Happy St. Patrick’s Day! As we mark the occasion, we reflect on how our firm began the St. Patrick’s Day weekend this past Friday evening at Morton’s Steakhouse, where we gathered with clients and friends to kick off the celebrations ahead of our annual River Dyeing Celebration.
The evening provided an opportunity to step away from the day-to-day and spend time together in good company—something we value greatly. It was a fitting start to a weekend centered around one of Chicago’s most enduring traditions.
In a memorable moment, Michael, Mollie, and Mark surprised the room with a performance—sharing a song written to the tune of Southside Irish. It was a lighthearted tribute that brought everyone together and set the tone for the celebration to follow.
We are grateful to all who joined us for the evening and for continuing the tradition with us the next day.We are pleased to share the lyrics below.
We practice law in Chicago town
Where the Lake winds whip and roar,
With briefs in hand and motions filed
At the Daley Center door.
When lawsuits rise and Board Rooms flare
And the voices start to soar,
There’s many a client who rests at night
With our firm behind the oar.
We’re the Airdo Werwas lawyers who always know the score,
We come from DePaul and Kent and Loyola law schools’ doors
From Southern Illinois and UIC, to the Daley Center floor
We’re the Airdo Werwas lawyers — let’s sing it out once more!
Now Hanover and Palatine,
And Shields and York as well,
With Schaumburg and Dundee in line
The best townships to dwell.
When ordinances stack up high
And debates begin to swell,
The supervisor and trustees say
“Call that firm we know so well!”
We defend the claims in nursing homes
Where seniors fall to the floor,
For IPMG and Mike Miller too
And Dorrie Seyfried we adore.
When charts grow tall and damages climb
And the plaintiffs ask for more,
The judge leans back and calmly nods—
He’s seen our work before.
We’re proud to stand with Christian Brothers
And the schools they guide with care,
With Scott Kier lending a steady head
His wisdom with Boards he shares.
From counsel wise to faithful work
And missions we support,
It’s service done the proper way
Beyond the daily court.
We’re proud to work with AED
Where big machines line the floor,
The equipment dealers are strong and proud
Across the nation’s shore.
And down at Mamre with Joe in charge
Helping those who need much more,
We lend a hand where hope is found
Beyond the courtroom door.
And the South Side boasts a certain man
Whose road climbed evermore—
Robert Prevost, once our client here,
Now Pope Leo the Fourteenth we stand for.
From Chicago streets to Peter’s throne
Where the Vatican bells ring forth,
We’ll raise a toast to that South Side boast—
We knew him long before!
Now the associates write briefs at night
Till the clock strikes half past four,
While partners say with cheerful smiles
“Just polish this once more.”
The redlines grow, the footnotes flow,
And the edits start to pour,
Till the judge declares, “Defense prevails!”—
The verdict we fought for.
Now Mollie Nolan, Irish through and through,
Brought her whole clan from out west,
With cousins, songs, and laughter loud
They think they’re at Nolan Fest.
The stories grew tall, the glasses were raised
And the voices climbed to excess,
Till the whole room sang like a South Side bar
Oh, the chorus will not rest.
We’re the Airdo Werwas lawyers who always know the score,
We come from DePaul and Kent and Loyola law schools’ doors
From Southern Illinois and UIC, to the Daley Center floor
We’re the Airdo Werwas lawyers — let’s have an encore! 🍀
