Recognizing Sister Tracey Sharp, SCRH, JCL and Sister Maria Carlos-Valdez, E.I.N.

Women’s History Month and Catholic Sisters Week offer a meaningful opportunity to recognize two women whose leadership supports and strengthens consecrated life in profound ways.

We honor Sister Tracey Sharp, SCRH, JCL, a Sister of Charity of Rolling Hills and Associate Vicar for Women Religious in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. A canonist with advanced studies in theology and canon law, Sister Tracey dedicates her ministry to guiding and supporting women religious as they carry forward their missions. Her work helps ensure that communities of consecrated women are accompanied with clarity, care, and strong ecclesial support.

We also recognize Sister Maria Carlos-Valdez, E.I.N., who serves as Vicar for Women Religious for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. A member of Esclavas de la Inmaculada Niña, she brings experience in catechetical ministry and pastoral leadership to her role. She works closely with religious communities throughout the Archdiocese, coordinating formation opportunities and representing consecrated women within the local Church. As she has shared, she accepted this ministry with a trembling “Yes,” committed to walking alongside her Sisters in a true community of communities.

Together, Sister Tracey and Sister Maria reflect faithful leadership and a deep commitment to strengthening religious life and supporting women who have dedicated their lives to service. We are proud to recognize their dedication and witness.
