Recognizing the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ and Sister Shirley Bell, PHJC

In honor of Women’s History Month and Catholic Sisters Week, we are proud to celebrate the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ and their longstanding commitment to faith, compassion, and justice. For generations, the Sisters have walked alongside those who are most vulnerable, strengthening communities through education, advocacy, and faithful service.

We especially recognize Sister Shirley Bell, PHJC, Provincial of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ, whose steady leadership continues to guide the congregation with clarity and hope. Her dedication to mission-driven ministry reflects the Gospel values that define the Poor Handmaids’ work and ensures their impact endures for future generations.

Sister Shirley’s example reminds us that faithful leadership, rooted in service and community, has the power to uplift and transform. We are honored to recognize her and the enduring witness of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ.
