Women’s History Month and Catholic Sisters Week provide a meaningful opportunity to recognize the faithful leadership of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas and the women who continue to carry forward the mission of their founder, the Venerable Catherine McAuley and the Mercy charism with strength and compassion.
We honor, especially, the Members of the Institute Leadership Team, Sister Patricia Flynn, RSM, Sister Judith Frikker, RSM, Sister Maureen King, RSM, and Sister Teresa Bednarz, who serve alongside Institute President Sister Susan Sanders, RSM.
Through their ministries in education, healthcare, pastoral service, administration, and social justice advocacy, these Sisters reflect the heart of Mercy. Each is personally accomplished in her own right, and we are privileged to work with these remarkable women who have dedicated their lives to the mission of the Sisters of Mercy. Their dedication to serving to those most in need, as well as their gift of thoughtful leadership to the Institute provides inspiration to us on a daily basis.
Together, they continue the legacy of Venerable Catherine McAuley by responding to the needs of the times with faith in action. Their collective witness strengthens the Church and the broader communities they serve. They are the ones who ensure that the Mercy mission is sustained well into the future, both in America and around the world.
It is an honor to support and recognize these remarkable women during this special month of celebration.
