As we celebrate Women’s History Month and Catholic Sisters Week this March, we are honored to recognize the Sisters of St. Francis of Clinton, Iowa, whose enduring mission of peace, justice, and compassionate service continues to strengthen communities across the country.
We offer special recognition to Sister Jan Cebula, President of the Sisters of St. Francis, whose life of ministry reflects a deep commitment to active nonviolence and peacemaking. Her work has spanned classrooms, courtrooms, and community leadership — from serving as a legal aid attorney and educator to advocating for social justice and representing voices through her role as U.S. liaison for Global Sisters Report.
Sister Jan’s leadership is marked by courage, integrity, and a steadfast solidarity with those on the margins. Her witness challenges and inspires us all to pursue a more just, peaceful, and compassionate world.
