Michael A. Airdo, Mark J. Kimzey, and Lauren K. McKenzie attended and presented at the Metropolitan Township Association Symposium held at the Chicago Marriott in Naperville. During the symposium, they participated in a legal panel alongside Hanover Township Supervisor Brian McGuire, giving insight into key issues impacting townships and local government officials.
As part of the symposium’s legal programming, “Understanding Mental Health Boards: Powers, Duties, and Best Practices” was presented by Michael A. Airdo and Amanda Teachout, who explored the structure and best practices of mental health governance. Mark J. Kimzey led a session on “First Amendment Audits,” providing practical strategies for township officials navigating these interactions.
We would also like to acknowledge the Illinois Treasurer’s Office for its participation and extend our appreciation to State Senator Adriane Johnson, Chair of the Senate Local Government Committee, for serving as this year’s Keynote Speaker. The event fostered thoughtful discussion and collaboration among township leaders, and we are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such an engaging and informative program.
